kmfm’s Tonnes of Tins 2026 campaign has united communities across Kent, collecting 12.8 tonnes of food for 25 foodbanks and charities in the county.
Listeners, businesses and supporters donated both food and funds, with £15,400 raised through a JustGiving page and thousands of essential items delivered to kmfm headquarters.
The campaign initially aimed to support 19 foodbanks, but the additional funds allowed kmfm to extend help to six more organisations.
Deliveries to these additional charities are scheduled for the coming week. The Trussell Trust network distributed over 2.6 million emergency food parcels nationally last year, including more than 900,000 for children.
Local foodbanks such as Deal Area Foodbank & Pantry have reported a 53 percent rise in demand, while The Rainbow Centre in Sheppey supported nearly 10,000 people last year. Many organisations are struggling to keep up with the growing need as donations fall short.
Station Producer Becca Webb said the generosity of listeners and local businesses will make a real difference to families across Kent. kmfm also thanked its partner Clive Emson Land & Property Auctioneers and all supporters of the appeal.
