Rod Liddle, broadcaster and columnist, has died aged 66 after a short illness.
He was a former editor of BBC Radio 4’s Today programme and most recently hosted a show on Times Radio. He was also known for his columns in the Sun, the Sunday Times, and the Spectator.
Rod died at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough on Sunday evening.
Rebekah Brooks, CEO of News UK, described him as a unique journalistic force and said everyone at the company was shocked and saddened by his sudden death.
Tim Levell, programme director of Times Radio, said Rod brought energy and wit to his show, and his comedic timing and dedication were a delight to many listeners.
He added that Rod’s show had brightened Saturday mornings and that he would be greatly missed. Condolences have been extended to Rod’s family and loved ones.
