Slipstream Music hires senior execs in UK, US

Slipstream Music has announced two senior appointments to strengthen its commercial and licensing teams as it expands internationally.

Alex Mearns has joined as Senior Director, UK Partnerships, and will work with brands, agencies and content teams across the UK and Europe to provide music for their content needs.

Jack London has taken on the role of Director, Enterprise Sales, based in the US, focusing on building direct relationships with brands and companies licensing music for digital and social content.

These appointments follow Slipstream’s acquisition of Megatrax earlier this year and come as the company grows its catalogue of more than one million human-made production music tracks.

Slipstream’s licensing platform is designed to help customers clear music at scale and reduce the risk of copyright claims and takedowns, which is a growing concern for content producers working across various formats, platforms and territories.

Chief Executive Officer Dan Demole said the company has expanded rapidly through both organic growth and acquisitions, adding that bringing in experienced operators like Alex and Jack signals the company’s direction.

Alex previously spent seven years at Universal Production Music, leading partnership strategy and client activations with major organisations including FIFA, Amazon Studios and the BBC. He said he is looking forward to introducing more people to what Slipstream can offer.

Jack joins from Artlist, where he helped drive US expansion, and said joining Slipstream was a natural next step.

Joanna Gregory has also been promoted to Vice President, Strategy and Operations at Cavendish, reporting to JD Adams, Global Managing Director of Slipstream Music.
