West End and Broadway actor and singer Samantha Barks will host a new Saturday afternoon show on Heart Musicals from 12pm to 3pm.
Samantha, who is is known for her roles in Les Misérables, Frozen and Cabaret, will feature songs from West End, Broadway and movie musicals, along with exclusive Heart Musicals Acoustic performances. These acoustic sessions will offer stripped-back versions of well-known musical theatre songs.
A new segment called ‘First, Last, Fave’ will invite listeners to discuss the first musical they saw, the last one they watched and their all-time favourite.
Samantha said she wants the show to be a place for musical theatre fans to connect, hear from stars and share their stories. She described it as “our stagey little corner where we can be musical nerds together.”
Richard Steel, Managing Editor of Heart, said Samantha is a well-known talent and her show will be a key part of the station’s weekend schedule. He added that her personality and love of musicals will bring something special to Heart Musicals.
Samantha was recently announced to star in The Greatest Showman musical at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2027.
