Simple Minds ended Radio 2 in the Park with their only UK performance of the year.
The Scottish band headlined the final night at City Park in Stirling on Sunday 13 September, performing in front of thousands of people near Stirling Castle.
Their set included Alive and Kicking, Promised You a Miracle and Waterfront, alongside their new single Beginner Boys.
Singer Jim Kerr acknowledged the long gap since the band had played in the city, telling the crowd: “It’s been a wee while since we were last in Stirling, about 50 years. We couldn’t have been much cop as it’s taken 50 years to be back here!”
During Don’t You Forget About Me, Jim spoke about the song’s familiar vocal refrain and encouraged the Stirling audience to join in.
Deacon Blue opened Sunday’s programme, followed by Appleton, Blue, James Blunt, Cast and Level 42.
Radio 2 presenters Jeremy Vine, Jo Whiley, Gary Davies, Romesh Ranganathan, OJ Borg and Shaun Keaveny also appeared on the DJ stage during the afternoon.
The City Park site contained more than 20,000 bunting pennants, 100 flags and 600 lanterns. Around 20 miles of electrical cable connected the stages, screens, sound and lighting equipment.
Head of Radio 2 Helen Thomas thanked those who attended and said: “Simple Minds were extraordinary headliners last night.”
