Sophie Berman has been appointed Managing Editor of LBC following Tom Cheal’s move to a wider speech radio role at Global.
Sophie joined LBC as Deputy Managing Editor in March 2025 and has previously held senior editorial roles at Associated Press, BBC News and GB News.
The appointment follows Tom’s promotion to Managing Director of Speech Radio at Global, with Sophie now taking editorial responsibility for LBC as the station continues its focus across radio and digital platforms.
LBC says it is currently recording strong results across both areas, with its presenting line up including Nick Ferrari and James O’Brien.
Tom said Sophie had “made a big impact at LBC in a short space of time” and highlighted her editorial judgement, ambition and energy.
In her new position, Sophie will lead LBC’s continued work across its broadcast and digital output, including its growing use of video through YouTube and social platforms.
Sophie said the growth of LBC’s video output showed that audiences valued having a platform where they could be part of the conversation.
She added that she was looking forward to the next phase of the station’s development and reaching new audiences while continuing to serve existing listeners.
