Beacon hires ex-BBC footy man

Following the recent addition to Beacon Radio’s Game On football show of match updates from every Walsall game, Beacon Radio has signed George Andrews to become the voice of the Saddlers on the station.

George has nearly 30 years of football reporting to the Game On footie show, and recently worked for Signal 1/Signal 2 and The Wolf. He also spent 10 years with BBC Radio in the Midlands.

Game On presenter Stu Haycock commented, "I’ve worked with George at various other radio stations before, so I know what the man can do. He brings with him a wealth of experience and is a familiar local football voice. Anyone who’s anyone in football knows George, and his connections in the game will help our coverage of local football grow and grow!"

George is excited about his new role at beacon, "With the Wolves commentary and the updates at West Brom games already on Beacon Radio, I’m joining my very own football team who care passionately about local football, and of what it brings to local radio!"

George starts tomorrow with a trip to Edgeley Park as Walsall take on Stockport County.
