Mornings on BBC Radio 1 will have a distinctly northern feel once Fearne Cotton takes maternity leave, as Sara Cox covers her show.
Bolton-born Cox will follow new breakfast show host, Oldham-born Nick Grimshaw, in the coming months.
The date of Fearne’s maternity is not known, but the news was announced by the station once again via Twitter this morning.

Cox currently hosts a weekend show but is no stranger to Radio 1. She used to co-present a lunchtime show with Emma B then went on to launch the Sunday Surgery, where she and the team won a Sony Gold. Sara has also hosted breakfast and drive over the years.
Fearne announced her pregnancy on Twitter on Wednesday evening, saying she is expecting her boyfriend Jesse Wood’s baby.
