Ofcom to allocate Ramadan licences with a draw

Ofcom will once again award short-term restricted service licences during Ramadan by way of a draw rather than the usual first come first served method.
The regulator wants all applications in between 19th – 23rd January 2015, to broadcast between 15th June and 23rd July 2015. A larger than-normal amount of applications are usually received for this period, prompting Ofcom to take this action.
“Only a fully completed and signed application form, accompanied by a cheque for the application fee of £400, can be considered for award or, if necessary, participation in a draw,” Ofcom points out. The application fee is not refundable even if your application isn’t successful.
The draw will take place in March or April 2015 and stations will be informed shortly afterwards.
