James Whale campaigns for radio signage


BBC Essex radio presenter James Whale is asking listeners if the signs approaching Chelmsford should be changed.

They currently boast that the area is the Birthplace of Radio, but James says in his videos that ‘city fathers’ want to remove it. The message, printed on ten brown welcome signs surrounding the city, are set to be removed when they are replaced because the Highways Agency says the sentence distracts drivers.

UPDATE: As you were. The county council today announced “Birthplace of Radio” would remain engraved on the ten brown signs.
