Celador’s Weston-super-Mare licence win is a Breeze

The small commercial radio licence for Weston-super-Mare has been awarded to the current licence holder, Celador Radio.

Celador was the only applicant, and proposes to continue broadcasting as The Breeze 107.7.

Ofcom was happy with the level of local content being offered, including the bespoke local news and travel bulletins together with a broad music mix provided by The Breeze.

The regulator recognised that in a short period of time Celador Radio had started to achieve a measure of success in trying to turn the licensed service round. Ofcom’s Broadcasting Licence Committee noted that the incumbent licensee had set out realistic audience and revenue expectations in the financial projections submitted.

The full re-advertisement took place after Celador requested the shortening of the licence. The expiry date for the new licence is 31 July 2027.
