Trax FM has recognised three local businesses with a Trax Award.
The station launched its Trax Awards in January to celebrate the best local businesses across Doncaster and Bassetlaw, with three categories for Best Fish & Chip Shop, Best Hairdresser/Beauticians and Best Pub.
Listeners were invited to nominate their favourite places in each category before the nominees were narrowed down to three finalists in each category.
Trax FM saw thousands of votes being cast over the couple of weeks of open nominations before each category dropped down to three finalists as most popularly voted for by local listeners. There was an unexpected surprise when the finalists were decided with so many nominations being received for Best Fish and Chip Shop there had to be five finalists.
There were yet more surprises when even more votes poured in over the next week as listeners voted for their favourite finalist to be crowned the best in Doncaster and Bassetlaw. This culminated in Breakfast Presenter Alex Cann announcing the winners in his show on Monday.
Speaking on the awards, Programme Manager James Marriott said: “We were overwhelmed with the amount of nominations we received and the reaction we had from listeners for these awards. It just shows how proud people are of their communities in Doncaster and Bassetlaw.:
The winners, should you want to know, were The Eagle and Child pub in Auckley, Chic in Warmsworth won best Beautician/Hairdresser and Fish Bits on Carr House Road won best Fish and Chip Shop.
