The BBC says Geoffrey Boycott will remain part of the Test Match Special commentary team, after apologising for an ‘unacceptable’ comment during a cricket event.
The former England player was reported to to have made comments during a Q&A in Birmingham at the weekend that he was more likely to be knighted if he had a black face, in reference to the number of West Indies cricketers who have been given the honour.
The pundit has since apologised, saying the comments were “unacceptable” and “clearly wrong”. The event took place during a break in play, while Mr Boycott was part of the BBC Radio team covering the England v West Indies day-night Test at Edgbaston. TMS is broadcast on BBC Radio 5 live Sports Extra and Radio 4 LW.
A BBC spokesperson said: “He has rightly apologised unreservedly for these clearly unacceptable comments. We use a number of different contributors in our cricket coverage. He remains part of our team.”

And yet if that was any other radio station people would be up in arms about it, SCREW YOU BBC SCUM!!!!
There are far more reasons than this why he shouldn’t be on the air. His insulting remarks about players “why are England playing with ten men?” and his unedifying goading of visiting commentators when England are doing well for a start.
He is an embarrassment and should not be broadcasting.
