Masterclass planned for radio engineers

The BBC and Radio Academy are offering an opportunity for aspiring broadcast engineers to kick start their careers by learning from expert professionals.

A day-long masterclass is open to station engineers in student, hospital and community radio and will give delegates a good grasp of the theory of broadcast engineering as well as practical experience of building a studio and operating transmitters to give each aspiring professional experience of what the job entails.

radioacademyDelegates will be trained by experienced technical experts from across the UK who are keen to share their knowledge, and will also able to chat with other industry professionals at networking sessions.

Dave Walters, Chair of the Radio Technology Masterclass committee, said: “Even back in my commercial radio days, it had long been a dream of mine to find a way to share the skills and experience I have gained from nearly twenty years as a “techie” in radio.

“I am so proud that, with technology professionals from across the industry and the amazing team at The Radio Academy, we are able to present this inaugural Radio Technology Masterclass.”

Representatives from Creative Skillset and the BBC Academy will also be on hand to let delegates know about further training opportunities, giving attendees a clear idea of how to take the next steps to advance their career.
