Union J record Hey Yorkshire for Capital

Pop group Union J have recorded their own version of Capital FM Yorkshire’s Hey Porsche parody “Hey Yorkshire”.

Listeners have watched the original YouTube video by Hirsty’s Daily Dose 175,000 times, listened over 25,000 times on Soundcloud and downloaded the song 10,000 times.

And Union J recorded their version of the song during a recent visit to Capital’s studios in Leeds and it was mixed by musician and Capital listener Andrew Solomon, who answered an appeal for a guitarist through the Hirsty’s Daily Dose Facebook page.

“Hey Yorkshire”, based on Nelly’s Hey Porsche, has been played by DJs in bars and nightclubs, loaded onto pub jukeboxes – and it is also part of the dance routine for the Leeds Rhinos cheerleaders who play it at Headingley Stadium.

The breakfast show is currently working on a version of the video that combines all the videos made by Capital listeners, which will be released in the next couple of weeks.

JoJo from Hirsty’s Daily Dose told RadioToday: “Our ‘Hey Yorkshire’ track has absolutely exploded and is pretty much an unofficial anthem for Yorkshire, it’s great that the Union J boys love it just as much as our listeners and we love their unplugged version for us!”
