Radio Festival goes all female for 2013

Former Radio Festival hosts Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie have been dropped in favour of Jane Garvey and Fi Glover this year.

The Radio 4 Woman’s Hour presenter will team up with journalist and broadcaster Fi Glover giving the Festival a truly female flavour in the main room for the first time.

The full schedule of speakers has not been revealed yet, but so far we know Director of BBC Radio Helen Boaden, sports broadcaster Eleanor Oldroyd and Radio 2 presenter Jememy Vine will be appearing.

The Festival will also feature talkSPORT’s Liam Fisher taking on 5 live’s Jonathan Wall for their very own “sports radio” Fighting Talk.

Ben Cooper, Chair of The Radio Academy, said: “I believe this year’s Festival will reflect the rich diversity of radio in 2013, with some great sessions that will really inspire the next generation of programme makers and industry leaders.”

The Festival takes place in Salford Quays overlooking MediaCityUK on October 14th, 15th and 16th, and full coverage will be provided online once again by RadioTodayLIVE, sponsored by Arqiva.
