TeamRock goes country with new radio show

Rock content creator TeamRock is turning its attention to Country by launching a new radio show on TeamRock Radio and a country music magazine.

The new quarterly “Country Music Magazine” will launch on 11th September, with its debut issue publishing an in-depth cover story of Johnny Cash on the tenth anniversary of his death. The magazine will also include an interview with LeAnn Rimes, about her life under the media spotlight and a chat with country’s hottest new stars such as Kacey Musgraves, Sturgill Simpson, Carrie Rodriguez.

Country Music Magazine Editor, Ed Mitchell said: “The magazine will feature the best writers, photographers, and will document Americana and roots music at its coolest, as well as exploring the lives and work of icons like Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton and Hank Williams; cult heroes like Guy Clark, The Derailers and Tony Joe White; and the cream of contemporary talent like Sturgill Simpson, Kacey Musgraves and Carrie Rodriguez. If it twangs, whines or breaks your heart, it’ll be in the pages of Country Music Magazine”.

TeamRock’s two hour weekly radio show will launch this Sunday 8th September at 4pm. Hosted by Rob Hughes from 6Music as well as contributing to the magazine’s Johnny Cash cover story. Content will largely reflect the content of the magazine, playing the songs by the artists interviewed each quarter.

TeamRock’s Head of Radio, Moose, said: “TeamRock Radio’s goal is to represent all genres of rock and country music is a massive beast that is generally ignored by UK commercial radio. Until now, that is. We hope the magazine and radio show will expose the genre to those who are really country fans but don’t yet know it, as well as providing a platform to the already converted. It’s an exciting time.”
