Jane Garvey returns to 5 live for its 20th

The first voice on BBC Radio 5 live Jane Garvey is returning to the station to help celebrate its 20th birthday.

She’ll co-host a one-off drivetime with Peter Allen, reuniting the two since her departure for Radio 4 in 2007.

The network launched on March 28th 1994 from the ashes of BBC Radio 5 and Peter Allen, who has been with the station since launch, will embark on a week of ‘presenter swaps’.

He will join Ian Wright and Kelly Cates on Sunday 23 March to present football phone-in 606. He will then go onto host Richard Bacon, Victoria Derbyshire, Shelagh Fogarty and Breakfast; ending his week presenting his regular Drive programme alongside Jane.

As part of its birthday celebrations, the station will also bring to life its history in 5 live at 20. This hour long documentary, on Friday 28 March, will chart the stations “major milestones and funniest moments”.
