John Humphrys to host Radio Masterclass

BBC Radio 4 Today Programme presenter John Humphrys will be giving a Masterclass at the Radio Festival this year.

The event, which was officially launched yesterday, will also include a new ‘How To…’ room in partnership with the BBC Academy and Creative Skillset. The Radio Festival will also have a greater emphasis on learning with more opportunities to hear from people in other creative industries.

Tickets for the ‘How To…’ room, which is being held on Tuesday 14 October, will cost £99 and organisers say the aim is to offer a year’s worth of training in just one day. There’ll be sessions on how to get the most out of talent both on and off air, how to make an impact with social media and how to create powerful messages on air, as well as a Breakfast Bootcamp session with US radio executive Tracy Johnson on how to be a hit at Breakfast.

There will also be the chance for delegates to meet and network with some of the key leaders in the industry.

Paul Robinson, Chief Executive of The Radio Academy, said: “This year’s Radio Festival is fresh, innovative and will have real impact – it will be one of the strongest yet. We’re focusing on high profile speakers, external points of view and sessions that delegates will find of practical value when they return to their jobs. It’s truly a must attend event for anyone in radio.”
