Steve Berry has been announced as the breakfast presenter on Manchester's soon-to-launch Rock Radio. Berry is known for his work as a specialist motorcycling presenter on Top Gear.
Mancunian broadcaster Mike Sweeney was recently announced as the weekday presenter on the station.
Born and bred in Bury where he still lives, Berry has done stints on BBC Five Live, talkSPORT and BBC Radio Manchester, as well as writing motoring columns in The Times.
Rock Radio launches on Bank Holiday Monday May 5th. The official station switch-on at 6pm will follow an afternoon of live rock in Manchester’s Cathedral Gardens. The full line-up of bands will be announced next week.
Berry, who has recently covered for Umberto on Century Radio’s late night phone-in, said: “I’ve signed up to Rock simply because it’s my kind of station and I’ll get to play my kind of music all the time. There’s nothing out there for people like me at the moment, I’m right between Radio 1 and 2, so Rock is perfect."
