A reunion for former staff who worked at Radio Tees between 1975 and 1979 is being planned to mark 50 years since the station first went on air.
The group of original presenters and production staff will gather on Tuesday 24 June this year, exactly five decades after the station’s launch.
Anyone who worked at Radio Tees in those early years is welcome to attend the reunion and is invited to get in touch by emailing johnbradford@btconnect.com.
Radio Tees was one of the UK’s first local commercial radio stations when it began broadcasting to the Teesside area in 1975.
The team behind the anniversary gathering say it will be an informal occasion for those who were part of the original set-up to reconnect and share memories of the station’s early days.
In addition to this specific event, a wider celebration is taking place over the weekend of Friday 27 June for all those who worked at Radio Tees and its successor station TFM.
That event has already been publicised through former staff networks and online radio forums.
The original Radio Tees team say they hope as many former colleagues as possible will attend the 24 June reunion and join in marking the milestone.
