SA Radio Live closes due to lack of income – rebrand coming

SA Radio Live, the station previously known as Radio Tircoed, has closed, with a rebrand on the cards.

The station’s sole director, Shaun Tilley, announced on his Facebook profile that the station failed to attract enough revenue to make the station viable.

It launched in September last year with Shaun saying will broadcast live and local programmes from studios in Tircoed Village but offer programming for Swansea.

Shaun Tilley left the day-to-day running of the service four months later and moved to London.

Radio Tircoed had been operating since 2007 before being taken over and rebranded as a station for Swansea.

Whilst the SARadioLive.co.uk website has been taken offline, a stream is still available on TuneIn, and a message on their Facebook page says they are still on-air, but are getting a new name and a makeover.

A station spokesperson told RadioToday: “We are just going through a reconstruction. Thank you so much for listening.”

Shaun Tilley added that the station is returning to local programming. He told RadioToday: “My dream for SA Radio Live was to create a dynamic station for the whole of Swansea to enjoy. I also wanted it to compete for listeners and be self sufficient revenue wise.

“Though I own the brand, the licence is run by The Tircoed Village Trust and staffed by a team of volunteers.

“Following my announcement to withdraw my investment, they have chosen to create their own station broadcasting to the village and surrounding areas as it did before. I wish them well.”
