Scottie McClue returns to radio with late-night show on Essentials

Scottie McClue is returning to late-night radio this September with a new phone-in show on the Essentials Digital Network.

Called Scottie’s Sanctuary, the programme will take a calmer approach than his earlier radio career, focusing on comfort, community and connection.

Airing live on Sheffield Essentials and across the Essentials Digital Network, the new show promises space for listeners to talk openly and without interruption.

Topics will include loneliness, life advice and shared stories, with a tone that encourages open dialogue rather than confrontation.

Older listeners will remember Scottie from his time on Hallam FM, where he hosted a late night phone-in during the late 90s, which was later syndicated on TFM and Magic stations.

“There was a time I thrived on strong opinions and fierce debates,” Scottie said. “But the world has changed. Scottie’s Sanctuary is about real people, real emotions, and genuine connection. It’s late-night radio with heart.”

Scottie McClue, real name Colin Lamont, made his name in the 1990s with provocative phone-ins on stations like Scot FM, Century and Red Rose Gold.

While the programme is launching from Sheffield, there are plans to syndicate it to other stations across the UK. A national rollout is expected by the end of 2026.

Broadcast days and times for the launch have yet to be confirmed.
