BBC News is launching a new international daily podcast called The Global Story, with episodes starting from 3 September.
The weekday series will be hosted by former NPR White House correspondent Asma Khalid in Washington and former Al Jazeera journalist Tristan Redman in London.
The podcast will focus on how global events and US politics influence each other, offering perspectives on shifting alliances, rising authoritarianism, and changing global dynamics.
Produced by BBC World Service and BBC Studios, the podcast aims to explore the links between the US and the rest of the world. Asma said: “We need a show like this — that dives into news, narrative and global issues — with the goal of connecting the dots in our strange political times.”
Tristan added: “Asma and I will be making sense of all this — backed by the finest newsroom in the business.”
Annie Brown, previously of *The Daily* at the New York Times, joins as executive editor.
Jon Zilkha from the BBC World Service said the programme will bring “accurate, insightful journalism” with “the very best of the BBC’s analysis and storytelling from our correspondents around the world.”
The Global Story will be published each weekday morning on BBC Sounds in the UK and internationally on bbc.com/podcasts and podcast apps.
