Jason Horton has been named interim Chief Operating Officer, Nations at the BBC, starting 18 August.
Jason steps into the role for a 12-month period while Sarah Calcott undertakes an external attachment.
With over two decades at the BBC, Jason has most recently served as Director of Production for BBC Local, overseeing more than 2,000 staff across 39 locations.
He has led the delivery of the BBC’s local strategy since 2022, with a focus on transforming services for local audiences.
Jason’s appointment continues a career spent working across the Nations and Regions, where he has remained a strong supporter of locally focused output.
He will remain in charge of BBC Local until a new Interim Director of Production is named.
