Sian Anderson moves to host 1Xtra weekday afternoon show

Sian Anderson will move into BBC Radio 1Xtra’s weekday afternoon slot from September.

She will present Monday to Friday 1pm – 4pm, taking over the show currently hosted by Kaylee Golding, who is leaving after three years on the station.

Sian has been part of 1Xtra for more than a decade, hosting a range of specialist and evening programmes, including weekday night shows and the Friday Drivetime Show.

She currently presents on Monday nights and co-hosts a Saturday programme with Manga Saint Hilare.

Kaylee has fronted the afternoon show since 2023, when it launched from Birmingham. 1Xtra confirmed she will leave the station ahead of the schedule change.

Sian said: “It’s been an absolute dream to host nightly specialist shows championing underground music over the last 11 years, as well as the legendary SAM show with my brother Manga Saint Hilare, we’ve had some serious laughs.”

Head of 1Xtra Dari Samuels said he is pleased Sian will return to the weekday daytime schedule, adding that her energy and passion for music and culture will bring new elements to the output.

Further details about Sian’s current shows will be confirmed in due course.
