Presenter’s near-death experience sparks creative dream
Bedford based broadcaster and author Barrie Hyde has realised a dream by releasing an album following a near death experience.
Barrie, who presents The 70s Album Show on Bedford Radio and The Soft Rock Shuffle on Bedfordshire Health Radio, nearly died from sepsis last year. The experience gave him the impetus to achieve one of his lifelong ambitions.
His new album Young Man’s Dream is a project that brings together songs he has written over the past fifty years and finally gives them the full musical production he always imagined.
What makes the project unique is the way it has been produced. Barrie turned AI tools to transform his original songwriting into fully produced recordings.
“I’m not a very good guitarist and I’m certainly not a great singer,” he says with a laugh. “But the songs themselves have always meant a lot to me. AI has allowed those songs to be produced in ways I simply couldn’t have achieved on my own. The results are magnificent.”
Young Man’s Dream is available on all major streaming platforms.
