Sky signs World Cup ad deal with News UK

Sky Glass will sponsor talkSPORT’s World Cup podcast and on air competitions as part of a wider advertising deal with News UK.

The agreement gives Sky Glass a major presence across talkSPORT’s World Cup coverage, alongside campaigns in The Sun and The Times ahead of the tournament this summer.

On talkSPORT, Sky Glass will sponsor the ‘How to Win the World Cup’ visualised podcast, featuring comedians, former players, journalists and influencers discussing different elements of tournament success.

A breakfast competition offering listeners the chance to win a Sky Glass setup will also be promoted on air and across Octave’s digital audio network.

talkSPORT, which holds official radio rights for the World Cup, plans to broadcast all 104 matches live with reporting from venues across the tournament.

The wider campaign also includes sponsorship of The Sun’s new ‘Ones to Watch’ video series, the newspaper’s World Cup wall chart and digital advertising on thesun.co.uk.

In The Times, Sky Glass will sponsor a 64 page World Cup preview supplement, the online countdown timer and football section takeovers before the competition begins.

David Dumville, Director of Content Solutions at News UK, said: “News UK’s brands are at the centre of the nation’s conversations and this summer millions will be turning to The Times, The Sun and talkSPORT from the first kick to the last whistle.”

Ben MacLaren, Head of Media Planning at Sky, said the partnership would help the company “connect with sports fans across the UK during the moments that matter most”.
