UKRD raises £14k for Haiti

UKRD's cross-station auction has raised £14,060.30 for victims of the Haiti Earthquake.

It lasted 4 days and was broadcast across 47 commercial radio stations, with a combined potential audience of more than 3.5 million.

‘Hope for Haiti’ was an idea initiated by Rose Newdick, a receptionist and administrator at the group’s station in Norfolk, KL.FM. It was supported by organisations, celebrities and artists from across the music and show-biz sector – with lots ranging from limited edition Take That artwork to Simon Cowell’s suit.

On hearing the total, William Rogers CEO of UKRD said "We work in a quite amazing industry and one which can make a real difference to people’s lives. Hope for Haiti was a great example of local commercial radio stations coming together to provide much needed public profile as well as direct help and aid for those who are in desperate need of it. What an entirely appropriate response to the tragic situation and one which everyone involved can be proud of."
