Wave charity total hits £38k

Bauer's South Coast station Wave 105 has raised just over £38,000 through a charity auction for Cash for Kids.

Among the items sold were a place alongside presenter Steve Power on his trip of a lifetime to the Sahara desert and signed memorabilia from Johnny Depp.

All the money raised from the on-air and online auctions will go towards Wave 105 Cash for Kids which supports local children under the age of 18, who are financially, socially, emotionally or physically disadvantaged.

There were a host of prizes on offer through the auction including a space to join Wave 105's Steve Power on his trip of a lifetime to the Sahara desert in 2011, the chance to secure a space on presenter Mark Collins' 11-day charity cycling trip in Vietnam in 2011 and signed memorabilia from celebrities including Johnny Depp.

Wave 105's Charity Manager, Gloria Hill, told RadioToday.co.uk: "Since our charity launched two years ago we have supported numerous other charities, organisations and individuals by providing them with grants and our auctions are a fantastic way for us to be able to continue with our work.

"We couldn't have raised this fantastic amount without the support from our listeners and those who kindly donated the prizes – so a big thank you goes out to everyone involved."
