Presenter Norman Thomas dies

Northwest radio presenter Norman Thomas has died at the age of 63.

The former popular BBC Radio and commercial radio host, also known as Little NT, was a household name in the 1970s and 1980s.

He’s held numerous positions at many radio stations in the northwest of England include breakfast presenter on Radio City and went on to work at BBC Radio Merseyside, Lancashire and Red Rose.

Former colleagues have been paying tributes, including Smooth Radio presenter Derek Webster: “He was a naturally funny broadcaster and a big star on Radio City in its heyday. It seemed everybody talked about the things he said on his breakfast show. He would refer to his 6am hour as “pre management listening time” believing the suits wouldn’t hear his edgy banter.”

Radio City programme director Richard Maddock told the local newspaper: �Norman leaves a massive legacy as one of the true greats of broadcasting in our area.

�A generation of Merseysiders grew up listening to his breakfast show, and we�ve had a massive response from people who remember him, his show, his jingles and his competitions.”
