Danny Baker given all-clear from cancer

BBC London and 5 Live presenter Danny Baker has announced via Twitter that he has won his battle with cancer.

He was diagnosed with cancer of the mouth and throat late last year but said on Monday evening “Turns out I won. I’m all clear. I’m well again.”

He tweeted: “The call I have been waiting for just happened. Turns out I won. I’m all clear. I’m well again.”

And followed it up by saying: “I will be wearing this hat for the foreseeable future,” along with a photo of himself sporting a baseball cap that bears the word “Lucky” (below).

Just a few days ago he was featured in a Guardian interview saying “It’s amazing how he can keep talking, I say. “This is the third time I’ve filled this up,” he says, pointing to his water bottle. That’s not much. He smiles. “Well, it is getting better, and I’ve responded extremely well, they say. I’m ahead of where I should be.” And that’s the best he can hope for – to talk of getting the all-clear is unrealistic, he says.”

And last month he was awarded with Gold for Speech Radio Personality of the Year at the Sony Radio Academy Awards.

Hundreds of replies were made to Danny congratulating him on his news.
