Over 200 considered for under 30s radio list

More than 200 nominations have been put forward for a new Radio Academy list to celebrate the top 30 radio people under the age of 30.

A panel of judges chaired by former Radio 1 Managing Editor Paul Robinson is looking the entries with the top 30 due to be announced at this year’s Radio Festival.

The Radio Academy have also announced the panel for the ’30 under 30′ judging process. Chaired by Robinson – who is now CEO of KidsCo – it will also include MediaUK’s James Cridland, Folder Media’s Matt Deegan, Radio 2 Network Manager Lorna Clarke, Karen Pearson from independent production firm Folded Wing and RadioCentre’s Director of Strategy Lisa Kerr.

The search was open to anyone working in the industry across all disciplines, with the judges saying they were looking for people who go the extra mile to be widely recognised as the industry’s brightest rising stars.

John Myers, CEO of The Radio Academy, told RadioToday.co.uk: “The 30 Under 30 list is about celebrating and recognising the very best young talent in UK radio. The task of coming up with that list has been given to an independent committee, who will come to their decision after deliberating from over 200 people who have either entered themselves or have been nominated by someone else. We look forward to announcing the winners in late October.”
