Radio Festival gets under way in Salford

Hundreds of delegates are gathering at The Lowry Theatre in Salford Quays over the next three days for the biggest event in the radio calendar.

The Radio Festival, hosted by the Radio Academy, includes almost three days of sessions, classes, one to one interviews, demonstrations and social events, all overlooking Media City UK.

Radio Today’s live blog is already in full flow at radiotoday.co.uk/live, covering TechCon.

Other major parts of the pre-event today include a Breakfast Show Masterclass with Z100’s Elvis Duran – and The John Peel Lecture which will also be broadcast on 6 Music from 7pm.

In addition to the Radio Today blog, we’ll be posting regular exclusive interview videos on our YouTube channel, one of which you can see below with Radio Academy Chief Executive John Myers.

Festival Radio this year takes the shape of 5 podcasts throughout the Festival starting at 6pm tonight, and will cover the highlights from all the sessions and events throughout the Festival.

Kate Cocker and Heather Davies are heading up a team of volunteers from across voluntary and professional radio who will be out and about among the delegates getting you all the headlines, and may be even some gossip, from Radio Festival 2011.

You can download the podcasts via the Radio Talk podcast feed from here or via iTunes.

Kate Cocker is a Director of coaching company What Goes On Media, and produces for BBC Radio 6 Music. Heather Davies is one of the newly announced “30 Under 30” and produces for Trevor Dann’s Company.
