London event to discuss radio promotions

The Radio Academy’s London Branch is putting competitions, promotions and creativity under the microscope at an event later this month hosted by Capital FM’s Roberto with a panel of creative industry experts including Radio 1’s ‘Comedy Dave’.

The event, which takes place on 21st March, will look at how commercial radio stations are thinking about new and innovative ways of running branded content and station promotions that keeps the sponsor happy, as well as the listener, and how the BBC would do it.

There are also going to be some practical tips on offer – including how best to be creative with those bits that aren’t links, music or adverts.

Capital FM’s Roberto will be joined by a panel of creative radio pros including Dave Vitty (The Chris Moyles Show, BBC Radio 1), Clare Baker (Marketing Director, Absolute Radio), Steve Taylor (Creative Commerical Director, Bauer Media) and Stacey Pratt (Head of Branded Content, Mediacom).

The event is being produced by Jonathan Jacob, Sponsorship and Promotions Business Manager at Global Radio. He told RadioToday.co.uk: “This will be a really exciting event in the Radio Academy London Events calendar where we hope to really investigate creativity through competitions and promotions. Things have really changed so much since the ‘Birthday Bonanza’. I look forward to hearing what both the commercial guys and the BBC have to share on the subject.”

The event is free for Radio Academy members (includes all staff from Academy patrons in the industry), but registration is required via the London branch website.
