BBC Radio 1 DJs get festival TV jobs

Radio 1 presenters Fearne Cotton, Greg James, Gemma Cairney and Edith Bowman have been announced as hosts for BBC Television’s coverage of some of this summer’s major music festivals.

Fearne and Greg will front BBC Three’s programmes from the station’s Hackney Weekend at the end of next month, with Gemma being their roving reporter across the festival site.

Acts including Jay-Z and Rihanna are performing at the Radio 1 weekend event on Hackney Marshes on 23rd and 24th June.

Fearne and Greg – who now do mid-mornings and drive on the station – will also present BBC Three’s coverage of the Reading and Leeds Festival in August, while Greg teams up with Edith and Gemma for T in The Park in July.

Greg James says: “It’s going to be a great summer of festivals this year and I can’t wait to be presenting it all for BBC Three. Not only am I going to be at three of my favourite festivals – Reading and Leeds and T in The Park – to be hosting Radio 1’s biggest event of all time, Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend, will be incredible. I can’t wait. I just want to become mates with Jay-Z!”

Gemma Cairney says: “I live in Hackney, I love Hackney and now we’re holding the biggest party in the marshes where I often take long Sunday strolls. Sooooo excited to be presenting the TV coverage for BBC Three!”
