Gary Andrews named BBC Radio Stoke boss

The Assistant Editor of BBC Radio Derby, Gary Andrews, is joining Radio Stoke as Editor.

He takes over from Sue Owen who recently left Stoke to take charge at BBC Radio Merseyside.

Gary has worked for five BBC local radio stations – including Stoke, Derby, Leicester and Nottingham – as well as two commercial radio stations.

He’s been Radio Derby’s Assistant Editor for the last five years, helping the station pick up three Sony Gold ‘Station of the Year’ awards.

Gary says: “I feel excited and privileged to be asked back to BBC Radio Stoke. It’s a terrific station and one that is regarded by many as a benchmark for success. That’s down to the talented team there and the great community they serve. I can’t wait to start working with them again.”

Catherine Hearne, Head of Regional and Local Programmes for the West Midlands, says: “Gary Andrews has a great track record in Local Radio. Most recently he’s been assistant editor at Sony Award winning BBC Radio Derby. I’m very much looking forward to working with him at BBC Stoke.”
