Sony Award winning Beryl and Betty from BBC Radio Humberside are taking part in an event hosted by the Yorkshire branch of the Radio Academy next week.
The duo – who last month became the oldest ever winners of a Sony Gold when they won in the Entertainment category – will be in conversation with their producer David Reeves and will take questions from the audience.
The event, which has a ‘tea party’ theme, takes place next Wednesday (20th June) at FRUIT bar in Hull from 6.30pm. We’re told there’ll be free tea, coffee, cupcakes and scones – but the bar will be open if you want something stronger!
The session with Beryl and Betty will be followed by a quiz night, hosted by Capital FM Yorkshire breakfast presenter Simon Hirst, where stations from across Yorkshire can compete against each other in a number of radio rounds.
Radio Academy Branch chair Scott Myers told us: “Beryl & Betty were a highlight of this years Sony Awards. They aren’t typical radio people but that’s perhaps why they are so brilliant. They are expertly steered by their producer and co-presenter David Reeves, who will be hosting this audience with them. After that, Hirsty’s got his legendary quiz! Zip up your anoraks for the jingle round…”
The event is free for Radio Academy members and £10 for non-members. Find out more on the Radio Academy website.
