Global Radio improves mobile phone apps

Global Radio has created a new batch of mobile apps for its group of stations.

They’ll be in the Apple app store soon, with an all-new look and feel, as well as a brand new streaming technology developed in house.

Some of the new features including rich visuals, the ability to catch up on shows from the previous seven days, music news, picture galleries and social media integration.

AS before, they’ll offer the ability to listen to any station in the Global Radio portfolio, including Gold, Choice and Classic FM.

Global Radio claims eight million of its apps have been downloaded since they first appeared in 2008. The launch of the next generation of apps will provide a “richer, deeper user experience with enhanced radio streaming,” the company says.

They are designed for both iPhone and iPad and support the full Retina display with additional commercial spaces. Further updates will be coming soon for other mobile platforms.

Global’s Founder & Executive President Ashley Tabor said: “Global Radio was the first UK radio group to launch iPhone apps for its stations. Now in 2012 we are re-inventing the user experience all over again, with our brand new iOS apps. It’s the simplest, most advanced, and most engaging mobile radio experience in the market and I genuinely believe that once you’ve used one of these new apps, you’ll never want to experience radio on any other app again.”
