The line-up for the 2012 Radio Festival is taking shape, with Global Radio Chief Executive Stephen Miron joining fellow Global Radio director Richard Park.

Newly announced guests include Smooth Radio presenter, and music industry legend Pete Waterman, Radio 2 presenter Jeremy Vine and Absolute Radio’s Christian O’Connell. Former GCap Media boss and now Commercial Director or ITV Fru Hazlitt will also be there, along with Chris Maples, Senior Vice President of Spotify.

Ben Cooper, Frank Skinner, Twitter’s Bruce Daisley, Adrian Chiles & Classic FM’s Margherita Taylor were previously confirmed as part of the packed two-day schedule in Salford Quays.

Highlights are expected to include Ben Cooper talking breakfast radio and John Myers explaining some of the stories in his new book, which will be released just before the festival.

As part of the Sound Women theme, Fru Hazlitt will be discussing her experiences with ITV and her previous roles in radio with Linda Smith, Executive Chair of the Radio Advertising Bureau. The Festival will also look back on a year of momentous events in the UK, including the Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Clive Dickens, Chair of the Radio Festival, said: “These additional announcements show what a diverse and stimulating event this year’s Radio Festival is going to be.

“High profile names from both in front of and behind the microphone and from the wider media world will take part in fascinating and informative sessions.

“If you are in the business of radio, if you love the medium we serve, then this Festival will not only be educational, it will also be a lot of fun. Watch this space for details of more of the industry’s biggest names participating in radio’s most anticipated event.”
