Wright joins 5 live in new season changes

Absolute Radio presenter Ian Wright is joining 5 live as part of a number of changes ahead of the new football season starting this month.

It’s unknown at this stage of Wright will continue at Absolute, where he reviews matches each Saturday afternoon.

On 5 live, he’s signed up to host 606 on a Sunday night along with Kelly Cates.

Chris Waddle also joins the 5 live team as a regular pundit, whilst John Hartson will feature across 5 live & television and Dan Walker will host the Friday night preview show.

Dan says: “I can’t wait to get stuck into this show on 5 Live. It’s exciting to host such an important slot which will explore some the big stories, the characters behind them and – with the help of some top guests – provide the perfect warm-up for the sporting weekend”.

A new simulcast show on BBC One and 5 live, called MOTD2 Extra will commence, to be presented by Mark Chapman each Sunday at 12:20pm for 40 minutes.

Alan Green, Mike Ingham, John Murray and Ian Dennis once again lead the station’s live commentary.

These shows, alongside our live commentary of 128 Premier League games, with new regular pundits Chris Waddle and John Hartson, mean our listeners will be able to get right to the heart of the footballing action and debate this season.”

Absolute Radio has informed RadioToday they will confirm Ian Wright’s future at the station on Friday.
