Signal 107 picks up Wolverhampton commentary

Signal 107 has formed a partnership with Wolverhampton Wanderers that sees the station become the official commercial broadcast partner for the next three seasons.

This will see the UTV sttion broadcasting exclusive local commercial commentary of every Wolverhampton Wanderers match for the 2015/16 Sky Bet Championship season, with the first commentary the opening game of the campaign at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, August 8.

The partnership also covers selected Capital One Cup fixtures, the first match being Wolverhampton Wanderers against Newport County AFC on August 11.

It comes as rival Free Radio announces its decision to drop live football commentary on some local matches.

Marie Wright, Station Director, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Wolves as they’re a fantastic club and we know how much support there is for them across Wolverhampton and Telford. We have some great commentators on board and can bring our unique local offering to the commentaries to really give local fans what they want.”

Wolves’ CEO Jez Moxey added: “We are pleased that Signal 107 have agreed a deal to become our official commercial broadcast partner for the next three years, and are looking forward to renewing the working relationship we enjoyed with the station almost a decade ago. I am sure supporters will enjoy their coverage of our fixtures, and that it will be another exciting season.”

Signal 107 is currently facing competition for its Telford licence from Fusion Radio.
