80th birthday specials for World Service
The BBC World Service is to have a special day of live programming later this month to mark its 80th birthday.
Audiences will also get a behind the scenes look at the station’s long-term home in Bush House, ahead of the move to join other BBC radio stations in Broadcasting House.
BBC Radio celebrates billion downloads
The BBC has announced that more than a billion podcast of its radio programmes have been downloaded in the four and a half years since the service launched.
Daily podcasts from the World Service top the chart of most downloaded, while the most popular weekly BBC podcasts include Radio 4 Comedy, Chris Moyles and Mayo & Kermode’s Film Reviews.
Four radio nominations for Nick Clarke Award
Four radio interviews have been shortlisted for this year’s Nick Clarke Award, which celebrates the best broadcast interview of the year.
Steve Hewlett, Jon Manel and Eddie Mair are all nominated for Radio 4 while Matthew Bannister is shortlisted for a BBC World Service interview.

She mentioned the Magic presenter and former BBC Radio 1 DJ during an interview with Radio Times, who was sorry to hear about recent cuts to the radio service.
