LBC News goes to the airport

Chrysalis Radio’s rolling news station LBC News 1152AM is partnering with British Airways to celebrate Heathrow airport’s 60th anniversary with a week of specially produced breakfast shows.

Next week, presenters James Hartigan and Sue Mansfield will broadcast live from Terminal 1.

The programmes will run from Monday 30th October starting with a history of Heathrow Airport and a look back at the last 60 years, including major events such as the arrival of the Jumbo Jet and Concorde. Throughout the week features will cover topics from airport operations, with an insight into the security measures employed, to looking at what life is like working within the control tower. The final programme on Friday will cover the future of Heathrow and what can be expected with the launch of Terminal 5 and other development projects.

Each feature over the week will be accompanied by interviews with members of British Airways and Heathrow Airport staff to give listeners an in-depth understanding of life working at Heathrow.

Jayne O'Brien, Head of Brand and Marketing Communications at British Airways, said: "The airline industry is an exciting one but there are many issues we must contend with every day to make sure we can get our customers away on their holidays or business trips. This week-long broadcast is a great opportunity for listeners of LBC News 1152AM to understand a little more about life behind the scenes of one of the world's busiest airports."

Jonathan Richards, Editorial Director of LBC News 1152 at Chrysalis Radio also commented: "LBC NEWS 1152 is London’s only non stop news station aimed specifically at busy, successful people so where better to base our morning report breakfast news programme than at arguably London’s economic hub, Heathrow Airport.”

The editorial features will be accompanied by a range of pre-recorded trails. The sponsorship was brokered by ZenithOptimedia.
