Chrysalis Radio is boosting its digital platforms division with the appointment of a Platform Development Co-ordinator and a Software Engineer.
The move comes as the company takes the number one commercial radio spot in London with Heart, but after two months of declining ad revenue.
Fiona Hodge has been appointed as Platform Development Co-ordinator to manage the web and mobile systems across all Chrysalis Radio brands. Fiona will support and report in to Platform Development Manager Amanda Theobold. Fiona joins from GCap’s Capital Radio where she was Interactive Editor responsible for the content strategy of capitalradio.com.
The division is further strengthened with the appointment of Sean Mill as Software Engineer. Mills’ remit will be to develop the radio company’s next generation of content delivery platforms. He will also rebuild existing systems enabling Chrysalis to deliver content on more platforms, create integration systems to take data and content from audio systems and deliver them to multiple platforms, and develop of new web tools to improve the online listening experience. Sean joins Chrysalis Radio from London School of Economics (LSE) where he developed software for the Computer Department.
Paul Fairburn, Managing Director of Digital Platforms, commented: “The appointment of Fiona and Sean will enhance our existing team, enabling us to take full advantage of the new platforms we’re moving onto. Content has so many uses, in so many places, that we’re now building our own systems to exploit this. We’re delighted to welcome Sean and Fiona to the award-winning team that built LBC’s subscription podcasting platform”
Last week, Chairman Chris Wright said the last 12 months of ad revenue declines had carried over into the new financial year, "with no sign of any recovery into the autumn".
