Perth FM wins full time licence

Perth FM has won a one-horse race for the new local radio licence to serve Perth and the surrounding area.

After the closing date of 10 August 2006, only Perth FM applied for the licence, which will broadcast on 106.6 FM

Perth FM Limited is wholly-owned by Mark Page. It will provide 'A high quality service of local news, topical information and entertainment designed specifically for the Perth area, combined with a broad mix of popular music.'

The licence is for a service to cover Perth which has an adult population (aged 15+) of around 60,000. However, the exact coverage will be determined by the location of the transmission site and other technical characteristics. The proposed frequency, 106.6 MHz, is subject to international agreement on radio spectrum usage.
