Stephen Carter finds new job

The former chief executive at Ofcom Stephen Carter has landed a new job. He was widely tipped to become chief executive of ITV but has instead accepted the same role at Brunswick, the corporate communications consultancy.

A report in The Times says Carter will take up his new role in March, after his gardening leave from Ofcom expires. He told the newspaper that one attraction of the role was that he would not be exposed to the same public scrutiny as he has been in previous jobs such as the one at Ofcom, and before that as chief operating officer at NTL.

The Times also reports Carter is expected to be paid more than he was getting at Ofcom, with the salary likely to be more than £440,667.
