Ofcom advertises Derby DAB

Ofcom has today advertised the DAB multiplex licence for Derbyshire and parts of Staffordshire. It's the second advertisement of a number of new digital local radio multiplex licences planned to develop digital radio coverage for local services in those parts of the country not already served.

Ofcom says the licence could cover an area with a population of nearly 850,000 adults and will be given for a period of 12 years.

The closing date for applications is 3pm on 16 April 2007. The usual £5,000 application fee applies, and space on the multiplex is reserved for BBC Radio Derby.
