The Capital FM App, available as a download for iPhone and iPod Touch users, spent a week as the most popular free music application over the Christmas period in the Apple iTunes Store.
The programme, which allows Apple iPhone and iPod Touch users the ability to have an icon on their home-screen, connects instantly to the Capital FM stream via 3G or Wi-Fi when pressed.
It also visually displays which song is playing live on air and allows access to web-cams placed in many different areas of London, including Tube information.
Options within the App also provides a stream of other Global Radio brands including Heart, Xfm, Gold and LBC.
Robin Pembrooke, Group Director Online and Interactive for Global Radio said: "We’re thrilled that 95.8 Capital FM is (was) the country's number one music application this Christmas. It provides a brand new radio experience for iPod and iPhone users which we look forward to rolling out in the New Year to more devices with an even richer feature set!"
It is now in second place at the time of writing, having been beaten by the FreeDrumPad App.
