Bauer station Key 103 has won the North West Station of the Year award at the regional media and creative industries How Do Awards.
In addition, the group’s MD of Radio Dee Ford was presented with the Personality of the Year prize.
The annual event, which took place yesterday evening in Manchester, also saw UTV pick up the Media Sales award ahead of the sales teams at Smooth Radio, Real Radio and GMG Radio.
In the only other radio-related category, The Mike Parr Breakfast Show on BBC Radio Cumbria won the Best Radio Programme, beating Christopher Dean at Hometime on 99.8FM 2BR, a Smooth Radio documentary called Fallen Heroes, and Signal 1’s Breakfast Show with Perry and Louise.
Talking to RadioToday.co.uk after collecting the Station of the Year award, Key 103 Programme Director Gary Stein said: “It’s been a really big year for us and we really believe in local radio.
“It’s such a competitive market and I think the one things we’ve learnt is if you stand still you get left behind so we are thinking about what’s next.”
